Money Saving Tips

With the economy on the downturn, everyone is trying to figure a way to save money while still not changing their lifestyle that they have grown accustomed to.  A simple and effective way to accomplish this challenge, while still maintaining your comforts and staying out of debt, is to start a budget.  All of the below methods to save money will be easy to track and manage within your budget tracking program such as Easy Budgeter.

  1. Clear up your credit card balances:  If you have credit cards, try to pay them off in full at the end of every month.  The money you will save by not paying interest fees will be extremely noticeable.  You can figure these payments in and plan for them within your budget.
  2. Keep your utility bills to a minimum:  Don’t leave the lights on in a room if no-one is occupying it.  Just start teaching everyone in your house to simply turn the light switch off as the exit the room.  Explain to them that there is a reason why the light switches are normally located right next to the door.  Also, keep your long distance phone calls down.  Possibly look into different plans with your phone company to save on long distance services.  Many phone companies offer a variety of plans to achieve this.
  3. Get just the necessities while at the grocery store:  Everyone likes to eat junk-food but, besides it not being healthy for you, it’s a money sucking machine that will drain your budget dry.  A good way to stop this type of shopping is to make a shopping list before you go to the store and never go to the store on an empty stomach.  The urge to buy junk food will be too high when you are hungry.

These are just a few different methods to save money.  Depending on your particular situation, I’m sure you can find a multitude of other ways.  Keep in mind that it all starts by drawing up a budget and sticking to it.
